Europe’s leading independent distributor of specialty chemicals, raw materials and ingredients, Cornelius Group Plc, has been nominated to receive the Corporate Social Responsibility award at this year’s British Coatings Federation Awards (BCF Awards).
Darren Spiby, Cornelius CEO, said: “To be shortlisted for a BCF award is a great achievement and testament to the Cornelius team. It’s very pleasing to know that large organisations like the BCF recognise the ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives within the industry and commend those involved for their efforts.”
Now in their ninth year, the BCF Awards take place on November 15 at Mottram Hall, Cheshire, to celebrate the successes within the coatings industry. The CSR award recognises outstanding charitable commitments and social responsibility.
Having already made significant donations to the charity over the last 12 months, Cornelius currently donates 1.5% of its revenues from sales of Ronald Britton Cosmetic Bio-Glitter®, used in the formulation of personal care products, to Sparkle Malawi; a UK-based charity that helps Malawian children to access nutrition, health support and education. Since June, Cornelius has raised £3,174.71 towards their end of year target of £5,000 from the sustainable glitter promotion. These funds will provide 37,000 meals to keep children and staff fed for 10 months.
He continued: “I’m confident that the BCF’s nomination will boost Cornelius’ charitable profile and publicise the magnificent work of Sparkle Malawi, which we are delighted to be involved with. Our Chairman, Dr. Neville Prior, also visited the project in Malawi in October to see the results of our support first hand.”
Founded by businesswoman Sarah Brook in 2012, Sparkle Malawi have gained worldwide levels of support and obtained recognition from the World Health Organisation for their positive impacts on Malawian communities.
