The popularity of cleansing bars has increased throughout 2018. This is in part due to a heightened interest in packaging free/reduced packaging and cleansing bars are easily packed into biodegradable waxed paper, or a cardboard sleeve or simply sold naked!

Global Cosmetics News listed Carbon Theory’s Charcoal and Tea Tree Oil Breakout Control Cleansing Bar as one of the most viewed products of 2018. The bar contains Organic Charcoal to draw out bacteria, toxins and excess oil; Organic Tea Tree Oil a natural antiseptic which reduces inflammation and helps keep skin clear; and Shea Butter to nourish and hydrate the skin. The Body Shop also have a cleansing bar based on these ingredients. Their Charcoal is sourced from the Himalayan foothills, whilst their Tea Tree Oil comes from Kenya and they also include shea butter to moisturise the skin during washing. The Body Shop Version is packaged in paper.

The on-trend materials of charcoal and shea butter are both available from the Cornelius portfolio.
Our coconut shell charcoal from Sri Lanka is activated which is the very important point – only activated charcoal, which has been steam treated to imbue it with a pore structure, has all the purifying and cleansing attributes associated with the material. The porous structure of activated charcoal sets it apart from standard charcoal and allows it to deep clean pores and flush out toxins. It controls oily skin and is ideal for sensitive skin.

Our shea butter is an ethically sourced product from Burkina Faso, where our supplier Olvea have an active role in the community. They employ hundreds of women to collect and process the shea fruit (amongst other crops) and continually reinvest profits back into the area where they have built an energy efficient plant to develop a sustainable supply chain. Shea butter has a rich texture which melts into the skin thanks to its high levels of stearic acid. Meanwhile, it’s high levels of oleic acid make it an excellent emollient which moisturises skin and hair to make them softer and more supple. Additionally, it protects skin against free radicals and oxidation and is a natural anti-inflammatory.
