Cornelius, a leading European distributor and manufacturer of specialty ingredients for the personal care products sector, is proud to represent principals with a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing.

A number of initiatives have been implemented by Cornelius principals to ensure ingredients are both ethically and sustainably sourced.

OLVEA, distributed by Cornelius in the UK, is a member of the Union for Ethical Biotrade (UBET), a non-profit association that advocates ‘sourcing with respect’. It promotes innovation and sourcing that contributes to a world in which people and biodiversity thrive. In holding UBET membership, the company demonstrates its commitment to respecting traditional knowledge and ensuring that sourcing practices promote the conservation of biodiversity.

Kelly Shenton, Business Manager at Cornelius, said: “OLVEA’s membership of UBET is fantastic as it shows its deep-seated dedication to responsible sourcing and giving back to the community. The company’s Shea supply chain, for example, produces zero carbon emissions, involves 12 farmers’ organisations and 18,052 female producers and represents 100% added value to the community in Burkina Faso.”

The OLVEA Group has further demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development at its Morocco production facility with its Marocavie charitable organisation. Marocavie is dedicated to maintaining full transparency and accountability and supporting economic, social and environmental projects in the Southwestern area of Morocco in which OLVEA sources its argan oil. For each kilo of OLVEA’s Moroccan argan oil sold a percentage of turnover is paid directly back to Marocavie to support its invaluable work.

Meanwhile, Cornelius principal Ronald Britton, has produced a range of biodegradable glitter that rivals its plastic counterpart. Bio-glitter® is produced from sustainable sources such as eucalyptus trees, is certified compostable and does not contain genetically modified materials. Ronald Britton is the only biodegradable glitter manufacturer in the world with global accreditation.
