London Fashion Week AW2016: What a Show!
(Posted on 25/02/16)
Ahhh London Fashion Week, a frantic whirlwind of daring and fresh fashions to inspire us for the year ahead.
Cornelius knows fashion trends are crucial in the development of new ingredients for care and beauty products. From the many trends set through innovative enticing looks at London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016, we have chosen those we feel will have the biggest impact.
Bright and bold: This February, London was well and truly awakened by the bold and vivacious colours on show. We saw neon eyeliners making a number of appearances, on, above and below the eyelid. Dark daring lips were a must, featuring in the majority of looks with some even incorporating the two, showing off a vibrant eyeliner and lipstick combo. One of our favourite eye make up trends this year was the “clumpy” eyelash look, which we feel will really take off.
Metallics out of this world: This spacey, automaton-like trend within the clothes fashion lines extended into the beauty world, bringing with it metallic foil lids, metal-esque bold eye shadows, metallic face stickers and sequins. One trend we love this year is glitter; we saw glitter tears, eyeshadow, lips, face; you name it – it will have glitter on it!
Back to the 60s baby: This floral trend is so totally “in”, dude … the floral and embroidered clothing paired with beautiful floral hairpieces took us back to that well-known hippie era. But it is certainly no longer a thing of the past; this floral trend can be expected to transform into other areas including beauty – watch this space!
Au naturale: Fairytale faces with rosy cheeks and natural glowing skin was on the catwalk this year. This innocent look however was often paired with a bold lipstick, creating a bigger statement look on such a ‘clean’ canvas. Those painted-on statement eyebrows look like they might be on the way out with most models rocking natural brows this year.
It’s all getting a bit dark: It’s all about standing out with goth-type looks. The statement thick black eyeliner and black lips are sure to grab attention this year.
Return of grunge: We’re not sure this grunge look is our cup of tea but it certainly seemed very popular at the shows. Messy, almost greasy, wet-look hair emerged time and time again on the catwalk paired with a baggy dress or jacket and trouser combo.
Braids for all: We love this trend – everything and everyone were rocking the braids this year. Our particular favourite, the unicorn braid (a braid down the centre of the head) stood out.
We can’t wait to see what September’s Spring/Summer 2017 London Fashion Show has in store for us now!
