Cornelius attend SCS Charity Event

Cornelius attended the SCS Summer Wales & West Charity Event, last Tuesday 14th June. The charity event was organised in aid of the Look Good Feel Better Charity.

Originally the event was planned around the idea of an outside summer fete, but the British summer weather, unpredictable as ever, forced the fete inside the lovely venue of Leigh Court in Bristol. Once inside, the range of stalls offered tombola, cakes, fortune telling and even wellie throwing.

The Cornelius stand added some much needed colour on a cloudy day with a plant sale – see photos below.

The event welcomed several customers, both visiting and exhibiting at the event from Acheson & Acheson and Laleham to Neal's Yard.

In total the day raised £625.24 for the charity which was a great result from the 32 people who attended.

We were lucky to attend two talks that took place throughout the day.

The first was a thought provoking talk by Patent Lawyer Sarah Klaczynska on ‘The Power of Patents in Cosmetics’. She provided an interesting insight into the reasons behind Patents, what qualifies as a 'new' technology and how this affects R&D for customers when looking at bench-marking or recreating new launches in the market.

The second talk on ‘Creating Innovative Products = Presenting them Well’ was given by Janet Tarasofsky. In the talk she stated that even the most ingenious product will be useless if it is not presented in an effective way. She went on to explain how the approach should be tailored depending on the type of consumer.  She demonstrated this in a very interactive way, splitting the room into small groups, with a mix of personalities for brainstorming sessions, which proved to be very effective.

As well as the very informative talks there was also a lovely lunch and cream tea, which went down very well with all the attendees. A great day was had by all!

SCS have already set 13th June 2017 as the date for next year’s event which will focus around a Sun Protection and Sunless Tanning theme. They are hoping to reach £1000 so don’t forget to pencil it in – it’s sure to be a great day for a wonderful cause.
