Cornelius Group, a leading independent European manufacturer and distributor of speciality chemicals, raw materials and ingredients for the Life Sciences and Performance Chemicals market sectors, has announced the launch of its new UK REACH Pocket Guide, designed to support the chemical and manufacturing supply chains with a simple guide to regulatory changes that will take effect once the transitional period ends.
The guide, available on the Cornelius Group website, provides an easy-to-follow chart detailing the actions required to comply with UK REACH.
For UK based manufacturers and importers EU REACH, ‘Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals’ has been in force since 2006. It is designed to closely monitor the impact of chemical production and substances on human health and the environment.
Following Brexit however, the chemical sector is set to face significant upheaval as EU REACH registrations & authorisations will no longer apply to chemicals manufactured in the UK. Instead, a new equivalent system will be put in place to ensure continued safe production and supply.
Designed to simplify the complexities of the changes, the guide takes the form of a streamlined decision tree and is based on the most up to date government guidelines. It follows the journey for a single generic substance that currently holds valid EU REACH registration. The company’s intention is to use its extensive chemical supply chain expertise to help businesses understand the new processes at a glance and clarify what further action may need to be taken.
Simon Moran, Group Head of Quality and Regulatory at Cornelius Group, commented: “Throughout the chemical supply sector – and the many industries that rely on it – we are seeing uncertainty on the incoming regulatory changes.
“As a leading name in chemical manufacturing and distribution, we’re playing our part in readying the supply chain to make the transition as smooth and cost-effective for UK industry as it can be. Our REACH Pocket Guide is a handy guide that businesses can keep and refer back to.
“With such a major – and potentially costly – change on the horizon, we want to make sure every business is prepared. To this end, we’re inviting our customers, industry peers and counterparts to engage with our dedicated teams, who can advise and provide more information. We have set up an additional email inbox, firstname.lastname@example.org, to make this as easy as possible.”
