Cornelius helps Nepalese village of Tang Ting

Laptop computers are prohibitively expensive in Nepal and so by donating 2 laptop computers, Cornelius has helped the village of Tang Ting in Nepal join the world wide web. Tang Ting is a remote mountain village half a days walk into the foothills of Annapurna and this donation will make a real difference to families and especially children living in this part of Nepal, the 12th poorest country in the world.

These computers will link in to the internet by accessing it wirelessly via a bigger village on the other side of the valley and across from Tang Ting that has had the internet provided by the Annapurna government. The idea is that they will be provide the schools with the ability to use media (they have classrooms with blackboards only now) and to exchange photos with other local schools and families and indeed those in the UK.

Also as families need to walk for half a day to see a GP, these laptops will be used to load more info re diagnostics (with photos!) and also to store health records for the village and info relating to drugs and side effects. At the moment, they rely on a runner taking a written note down to town. This improved capability will make a massive difference in providing better healthcare to the village and is something Cornelius is only too happy to help with in a small way.
