If you are unable to verify that your petrolatum supply is non carcinogenic you may be interested in Aiglon's range of Codex Vaselines which are certified non carcinogenic.
They are a blend of non CMR hydrocarbons (INCI: Cera Microcrystallina,Paraffin, Paraffinum Liquidum) and give exactly the same performance as "petrolatums".
