We had the G7, which became the G8, and that body, for many years, was the world economic forum. It was the hub of world decisions, and it was almost entirely West facing. The forth coming meeting in Pittsburgh is for the G20, and that is to become the permanent body co-ordinating the world economy: you guessed it, it is not just West facing! The emerging economies are now important, and rightly have their place on the world stage. The recent financial crisis has undoubtedly precipitated this, and may possibly be considered as the largest outcome. We can no longer shy away from a new world order.......................................
